  • Acting for owners of a vessel in arbitration proceedings against the bareboat charterers. The vessel was an integral part of the operations at an offshore gas field. The dispute covers termination of the charterparty, payment of hire, ownership/usage of equipment on board, disposal of slops, mercury contamination and redelivery of the vessel. Arbitration proceedings are ongoing where the total value of the claims/cross claims are about USD40 million.

  • Acting for and advising the judicial managers of several ship-owning subsidiaries in the Hin Leong Group in defending claims brought by 3 financial institutions on the grounds that there has been an infringement of sections 100(2) and 115 of the Insolvency, Restructuring and Dissolution Act (“IRDA”) relating to a mortgagee sale of a vessel whom the financial institution have admiralty claims amounting to $48 million (USD).

  • Acted for a company who entered an EPC contract with a Singapore company for the construction and delivery of a FPSO hull and living quarters for an oil field on the Norwegian Continental Shelf. There were delays in the work done by the Singapore contractor despite addenda and incentives for speedy construction. The company claimed liquidated damages exceeding USD 150 million.
