David takes a holistic approach to his cases in order to find efficient and practical real‑world solutions for his clients. He represents clients in a diverse group of practice areas, with a focus on contractual claims and civil liability. He has particular expertise managing complex and multi‑party disputes and has pleaded before all levels of court in Canada, including the Supreme Court.

David has acted on the governing board of the Raoul Wallenberg Centre for Human Rights, working, among other projects, on the defence of political prisoners. He has previously served as a law clerk to the Honourable Michel Bastarache of the Supreme Court of Canada and as special assistant to the Honourable Irwin Cotler, former Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada. He joined IMK in 2012.

  • A.B. v. Google, 2026 QCCA 157. Representing the plaintiff in connection with Google’s publication of links to defamatory posts in its search results. The Court of Appeal awarded $1.5 million in punitive damages, $25,000 in compensatory damages, and issued an order of injunction against Google.

  • Hak et al. v. Attorney General of Québec, 2024 QCCA 254. Representing the appellants in a challenge to the constitutionality of Bill 21, the Québec law prohibiting certain public sector employees from wearing religious symbols. The appeal is presently before the Supreme Court of Canada.

  • Association des juges administratifs du Tribunal administratif du Québec v. Attorney General of Québec. Representing an association of administrative judges in a constitutional challenge to their regime of remuneration. The matter is presently before the Superior Court of Québec.
