Debevoise & Plimpton has hired a new litigation partner to add its commercial dispute resolution practice in Hong Kong.

Gareth Hughes joins the firm from Ashurst where he had previously led the Asia dispute resolution practice.

Michael Blair, presiding partner of Debevoise said that Hughes would “help us continue to deliver on our promise of providing top quality, senior advice on regulatory and white collar matters wherever our clients do business.”

While at Ashurst, Hughes had been a head of the firm’s Asia dispute resolution practice. He was ranked as a Dispute Resolution Star for commercial and transactions disputes work in Benchmark Litigation in 2018.
