Dispute resolution

COBALT is well known for its work within dispute resolution in the Baltic States. Lauris Liepa is managing partner of the firm and head of the dispute resolution department. Key contacts in the firm include Ģirts Lejiņš, Dace Silava–Tomsone and Ingrīda Kariņa–Bērziņa. The dispute resolution team consists of 20 lawyers including five partners, two specialist counsel, six senior associates and seven associates. The firm’s key areas including arbitration, financial services and intellectual property disputes.

The firm advised Riga International Airport in connection with a case relating to collection of unpaid rent and a contract penalty. In another case highlight the firm advised Danske Bank in recovering damages from an insolvency administrator.

In the competition space, managing partner Dace Silava-Tomsone led on a case representing AKKA/LAA in regard to alleged abusive public performance tariffs in stores.
