Suciu Popa was founded in 2016 as an independent full-service law firm by an experienced team of professionals committed to make a difference on the Romanian legal market: to provide value for clients through a deep understanding of their legal needs and robust partner involvement.
The team is drawing on the strong reputation of its partners, built during 20 years of acting for blue chip clients including major strategic investors and investment funds, foreign corporations, public authorities and international financial institutions, in some of the largest complex cross border transactions, milestone investment projects and dispute resolution cases.
Suciu Popa has highly recognised capabilities in mergers and acquisitions, energy and natural resources, litigation, international arbitration, capital markets, infrastructure, PPP and public procurement, real estate and construction, competition and IP.
The firm has swiftly confirmed its position as a top-tier legal services provider on the local market, being highly ranked by legal international directories Legal 500 EMEA, IFLR 1000, Chambers and Partners, as well as by Global Arbitration Review 100 and Who’s Who Legal: Arbitration.
The team frequently teams up with international law firms in large cross border transactions, based on the lawyers’ skills and insights developed by representing clients in virtually all capacities.
Suciu Popa combines smooth and efficient legal support, being asked to create unique business models, processes and investments structures.
PETERKA & PARTNERS is the one truly CEE law firm that has built a pan-regional full-service practice with a unique fully-integrated infrastructure. The firm provides a one-stop shop for legal services over several jurisdictions or the whole region.
Our integrated services in the CEE region offer:
One primary contact as a single point of entry and delivery
Single outputs (memos, legal opinions, etc.) covering several jurisdictions
A single agreement on the provision of legal services governing all services
Nine fully-integrated offices located in Prague, Bratislava, Kyiv, Sofia, Moscow, Bucharest, Warsaw, Minsk, and Budapest. To strengthen our presence in the CEE region we are soon going to open the tenth office in Croatia.
PETERKA & PARTNERS formalized its divisions with respect to particular practice/industry areas at the regional level, namely the legal practice areas of Antitrust and Competition, Banking and Finance, Compliance and Regulatory, Corporate, Criminal Law, Data Protection, Family and Inheritance Law, General Commercial and Distribution, Immigration, Intellectual Property, Labour Law, Law of Information Technologies, Litigation and Insolvency, Mergers and Acquisitions, Public Procurement, Real Estate, and Tax, and in the sector practice areas of Automotive, Aviation, Energy, Pharma and Life Sciences, Retail and Luxury, Sport, Media and Gaming, and Transportation and Logistics. The practices are led by lawyers with exceptional experience at the regional level, as well as in the individual countries concerned. This enables us to provide our clients and partner law firms with the highest level of expertise. Further, we have long-term experience in offering legal services via our German, Russian, Polish and French Desks in individual countries or as an integrated legal service over the entire CEE region.
Litigation and Insolvency practice is led by Jiri Cerny, Partner of the firm.
The majority of our cases contain a cross-border element. The lawyers of our various offices in the CEE region work together closely, which enables us to reflect on the differences in the perception of substantive legal matters by judges and arbitrators in different jurisdictions. We believe that in complex commercial litigation and insolvency matters, cooperation with the client is essential for the positive outcome of the proceedings. For our clients, we also coordinate lawyers in proceedings initiated in jurisdictions where we do not have a direct presence. This approach secures the implementation of a unified strategy in all proceedings.
Lawyers from the Prague office represent clients in courts, and also before various arbitration bodies. With respect to arbitration, we usually create teams composed of lawyers from several of our offices.
