Future Star
Beth Stewart’s practice focuses on complex civil litigation and government investigations. Based on Beth’s extensive experience litigating and trying cases throughout the United States in both state and federal courts, she has been repeatedly recognized as a “future star” and a “trending lawyer.” Beth also serves as a member of the firm’s Executive Committee.
Beth’s most recent trials include two merger trials in 2024, as well as a trial on behalf of a Fortune 10 financial institution relating to mortgage-backed securities. Current client matters also include representation of a technology company in complex civil litigation involving the preparation of multiple bellwether cases for trial.
Beth’s first major criminal trial was as a member of the team representing United States Senator Ted Stevens, who was indicted on ethics charges fewer than 100 days before he was to stand for re-election. Senator Stevens was ultimately exonerated after it was established that the prosecutors had intentionally withheld exculpatory evidence from the defense. The American Lawyer has described the firm’s work on the case as “one of the best criminal defense performances in memory, resulting in a heightened scrutiny of prosecutors that will affect the Justice Department for years to come.”
Beth was raised in Columbus, Georgia. She received a B.A. from Harvard College, after which she spent two years as a Business Analyst at McKinsey & Company in New York. She graduated from Harvard Law School after serving as an editor on the Harvard Law Review. Prior to joining Williams & Connolly, she served as Special Counsel to the Senate Judiciary Committee during the confirmation hearings of Supreme Court Justices Roberts and Alito.
