Courtland Reichman is the Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Reichman Jorgensen Lehman & Feldberg LLP (RJLF), an elite majority women-owned national trial firm that focuses on high-stakes commercial litigation, intellectual property, and white collar disputes. He is recognized among the nation’s “Top 100 Trial Lawyers,” the “Top 20 in California,” and as a “Litigation Star” by Benchmark Litigation. He received Benchmark Litigation’s “Silicon Valley Lawyer of the Year” award for three consecutive years, following his success as lead counsel in securing a $236 million patent infringement verdict on behalf of Densify against tech giant VMware. Recently, Courtland secured an $84 million patent infringement verdict on behalf of Cirba against VMware, marking the second time a jury determined that VMware committed willful infringement. Courtland has also been recognized as a leading litigator by several major legal directories and publications, including Chambers USA, The Legal 500, The National Law Journal, and The American Lawyer, among others. 


Courtland has more than 20 years of experience in high-exposure intellectual property and commercial litigation. He is known for delivering results through comprehensive case strategy, boiling down even the most complex cases into understandable themes, and communicating simply and effectively with judges and juries. His appellate practice comprises more than 30 federal appellate arguments, including arguments before the 


U.S. Supreme Court and the Federal Circuit. 


Courtland has represented clients in more than 100 patent cases involving a wide variety of technologies. His experience includes litigating patent cases in federal courts across the country, and before the International Trade Commission (ITC), where his representation includes one of the largest-ever ITC patent infringement actions. Courtland also represents plaintiffs and defendants in a wide variety of high-exposure commercial litigation matters, including trade secrets, antitrust, constitutional law, energy, franchise and distribution, whistleblower actions, breach of restrictive covenants, unfair competition, breach of contract, licensing, and partnership disputes, among others. 


Courtland has a leading practice in trademark and false advertising litigation, having represented companies owning the world’s most valuable trademarks. He has extensive experience litigating false advertising cases in the pharmaceutical, chemical engineering, consumer product, media, electronics, health, fitness, and food and beverage sectors. He has also handled dozens of temporary restraining order and preliminary injunction hearings. 


Prior to founding RJLF, Courtland served as Managing Principal of McKool Smith’s Silicon Valley office and as Global Chair of King & Spalding’s 150-lawyer Intellectual Property Group and as Managing Partner of the firm’s San Francisco and Silicon Valley offices. 


He is a graduate of Swarthmore College, where he studied economics, and Emory University School of Law, where he graduated Order of the Coif. Courtland served as a law clerk to the Honorable R. Lanier Anderson III on the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals.
