John C. Grugan is Holland & Knight’s Litigation Practice Group Leader in Philadelphia, and focuses his practice on representing clients in government investigations and complex litigation brought by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), and state attorneys general. John has substantial experience working with boards of directors, audit committees, special litigation committees and corporate management to direct corporate internal investigations. His experience includes numerous engagements in which he handled corporate investigations and related negotiations with the government, after which the government declined to prosecute or pursue litigation.
John is annually recognized for his work in industry publications. He serves as the co-chair for an American Bar Association subcommittee on Corporate Compliance and Ethics, and is a frequent lecturer on topics relating to government enforcement trends and strategies to protect corporate interests, including the attorney-client privilege. In the community, John chairs two non-profit boards of directors.
