Kayla joined NST as an associate in 2020 and quickly became firmly entrenched in many of the firm’s largest cases. Kayla joined NST’s partnership in 2024.
Prior to joining NST, Kayla clerked for the Chief Justice of British Columbia and was an associate at an international law firm. She has an insightful analytical approach to difficult issues and a keen intellect.
Kayla is a trial and appellate lawyer who primarily practices in corporate commercial litigation, alternative dispute resolution and bankruptcy and insolvency. She has experience in a wide range of areas including proceedings under the Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act and the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act, receiverships, property development disputes, contract disputes, shareholder and partnership disputes, civil forfeiture, and professional regulatory proceedings. Kayla appears regularly as counsel before the British Columbia courts and before administrative and arbitral tribunals. She has appeared before the Supreme Court of Canada on an intervention, and assisted with several leave to appeal applications.
Kayla is committed to providing pragmatic solutions to complex problems for her clients. She takes pride in seeking a deep understanding of her clients’ issues and providing advice that is tailored to their objectives.

In addition to her experience before the courts, Kayla is an adjunct professor at the University of British Columbia’s Allard School of Law, a co-editor of the Civil Appeal Handbook, and has co-authored chapters for publications on evidentiary and procedural issues in civil litigation. She is also a member of the Board of the Bowen Island Health Centre Foundation.
