Mr. Hu Ke is a partner in our dispute resolution group, specializing in international litigation and arbitration (in commercial and IP-related matters), cyber-security and data protection.
In dispute resolution, Mr. Hu has represented domestic and international clients in 100+ court proceedings in China, including cases before the Supreme People’s Court, and in arbitration proceedings under the rules of BAC, CIETAC, SCIA, SHIAC, CAS, HKIAC, ICC, SCC, SIAC and UNCITRAL. His experience covers disputes in relation to general commercial contracts, corporate and JV matters, PE/VC investment, real estates, energy and infrastructure projects, carbon finance, entertainment and culture, technology licensing, IP protection, and recognition and enforcement of oversea arbitral awards and court judgments. He has been recognized by Who’s Who Legal as a “Future Leader” in arbitration since 2018, by Chambers Asia Pacific as an “up-and-coming” practitioner in arbitration since 2019, and by AsiaLaw as a “Rising Star” in dispute resolution since 2018.
In the area of intellectual property and competition law, Mr. Hu represented domestic and international clients in infringement proceedings in relation to patent, trademark, copyright, trade secrets and unfair competition, before the Supreme People’s Court and various lower courts, including in some landmark cases such as the first automobile design patent infringement lawsuit in China (Honda vs. Shuanghuan) and the first fan-fiction copyright infringement lawsuit in China (Jin Yong vs. Jiangnan). He is recognized by Legal500 as a recommended IP litigator.
Mr. Hu co-leads the cybersecurity and data privacy practice of the firm. With solid knowledge and practical experience of data protection issues under the EU GDPR and the PRC Cyber Security Law, and sensitivity to business needs in an age of innovation, he applies excellent command of the area to provide tailored and sound solutions for the clients.
Mr. Hu Ke is qualified in China and in the state of New York.
Mr. Hu is a member of Inter-Pacific Bar Association (IPBA), International Bar Association (IBA) and the steering committee of IBA Arb40.
Mr. Hu Ke is also a member of the ICCA/Tsinghua Joint Working Group on Chinese Arbitration Practice (as a co-rapporteur for Young ICCA), a member of the YSIAC Leadership Committee, and a co-organizer of China Young Arbitration Group. He also holds memberships in Young ICCA, ICCA, and HK45.
