Brad Hanna is a seasoned corporate commercial litigator and a leader of the firm’s Litigation & Dispute Resolution and Franchising & Distribution groups. He represents major franchising, manufacturing, automotive, and distribution clients before courts at all levels, including the Supreme Court of Canada, as well as in domestic and international arbitrations.
Brad has extensive experience acting for manufacturers in disputes involving distributor and franchisee terminations, wrongful dismissal, breach of contract, bad faith, fraud, and misrepresentation. His work also covers IP infringement, breaches of non compete and confidentiality covenants, licensing disputes, and competition law matters. He has defended leading automotive, food, petroleum, clothing, and retail companies in franchise legislation claims, including rescission and duty of good faith cases, and has significant class action defence experience.
Brad is also recognized for his expertise in internet related disputes, including ICANN proceedings, cybersquatting, defamation, and IP violations. His practice includes corporate fraud matters and environmental litigation, where he represents both plaintiffs and defendants and defends corporations charged under environmental statutes.
A fellow and executive committee member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb), Brad regularly acts as counsel in mediations, domestic and international arbitrations, and NADAP proceedings.
