Debby Lim is a Senior Partner at Dentons Rodyk and Co-Head of the firm’s Restructuring, Insolvency and Bankruptcy practice. She is widely recognised as a leading disputes counsel for complex, high-value restructuring and insolvency matters, and is at the forefront of significant cross-border litigation across Asia-Pacific.

Her practice focuses on cross-border insolvency disputes, banking and finance litigation, asset recovery, and fraud investigations, often arising from large-scale corporate collapses involving multiple jurisdictions and competing stakeholder interests. She regularly acts for debtors, creditors, and insolvency officeholders in contested schemes of arrangement, priority and intercreditor disputes, enforcement actions, and antecedent transaction claims. With over 18 years of experience, Debby is known for delivering clear, commercially grounded strategies in high-stakes and time-sensitive situations.

Debby has acted in a number of market-leading and precedent-setting matters that have shaped Singapore’s restructuring landscape. Her experience includes advising on Singapore’s first pre-packaged scheme of arrangement and the first judicial management involving a foreign-incorporated entity. She has also appeared in landmark reported decisions such as Re Picotin Pte Ltd [2024] SGHC 156, which clarified the scope of related company moratoria. More broadly, she has led multi-jurisdictional strategies in major cross-border restructurings and disputes spanning the energy, shipping, logistics, and cryptocurrency sectors.

She is particularly distinguished for her appellate advocacy. Debby is the youngest lead counsel to have successfully argued two complex appeals before an expanded five-judge bench of the Singapore Court of Appeal, contributing to the development of Singapore’s jurisprudence at the highest level.

Debby is consistently recognised by leading legal directories as a market-leading practitioner, with clients describing her as “technically outstanding”, “highly strategic”, and capable of delivering “ground-breaking outcomes” in the most challenging disputes. She is also a Fellow of INSOL International, among the first Singapore-qualified practitioners to receive this distinction.

Beyond her disputes practice, Debby contributes actively to thought leadership and law reform. She has contributed to LexisNexis’s Annotated Laws of Singapore and participates in UNCITRAL Working Group V on international insolvency frameworks. She currently serves as Chairperson of the Law Society of Singapore’s Publications and Insolvency Practice Committee.
