Julia Strickland is chair of Stroock’s Financial Services Litigation, Regulation and Enforcement Group and the co-chair of Stroock’s national litigation practice. She also manages Stroock’s Los Angeles office, and is a member of the firm’s Executive Committee.
Julia has built a national reputation as a leader in the representation of financial services companies, having litigated all issues relating to the financial services industry, including mortgage and credit card lending and servicing, retail banking, unfair practices, insolvency, and federal and state regulatory compliance. She represents world-renowned financial services companies in their most complex and sensitive issues, defending them against substantial economic and reputational risk.
Her client list is a “Who’s Who” of financial companies, including American Express, CIT, Citigroup, Discover, Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan Chase, HSBC, Synchrony, BMW Financial Services and Lending Club.
She is a sought-after speaker and writer and is often quoted in the media. For over 20 years, Julia has led the Practising Law Institute’s (PLI) annual Consumer Financial Services Institute, which draws an attendance of hundreds of her industry peers. Julia recently organized and led two well-received webinars for PLI on two important subjects related to the COVID-19 pandemic, including Public Protection in the Wake of COVID-19 and The CARES Act.
For 15 years, Julia has been named one of California’s “Top 100 Women Lawyers” by the Daily Journal.. For two years running, in 2018 and 2019, she was also named one of the “Most Influential Women Lawyers” by the Los Angeles Business Journal, and in 2020 she was named an LABJ “Leader of Influence” for the second consecutive year.
