Karen Salmon, K.C. is a Calgary‑based partner at Borden Ladner Gervais LLP whose practice focuses on complex commercial disputes, with a particular emphasis on the energy sector. She regularly advises oil, gas and electricity clients in both litigation and regulatory matters, including disputes arising from operations, environmental contamination, contracts, acquisitions and divestitures, and mineral ownership and title issues. Karen has significant experience representing electricity clients in proceedings before energy regulators, as well as acting for energy companies in environmental and regulatory disputes. She has extensive trial and appellate experience and has appeared before the Alberta Court of King’s Bench, the Alberta Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Canada, as well as before regulatory tribunals including the Alberta Utilities Commission, the Alberta Energy Regulator and the Northwest Territories Public Utilities Board.
Called to the Alberta Bar in 1995, Northwest Territories Bar in 2010 and Nunavut Bar in 2023. She is actively involved with BLG’s Team North, reflecting her longstanding commitment to Indigenous‑related legal work.
