Paul Le Vay’s litigation practice is focused in the areas of corporate-commercial and securities litigation, professional liability, employment law and professional discipline and regulation. He regularly appears before all levels of Court in Ontario, as well as many administrative tribunals. Paul has acted for companies and individuals in complex commercial trials and arbitrations, shareholder disputes, class action litigation and in enforcement proceedings before the Ontario Securities Commission, IIROC and the MFDA. He has advised and represented corporate officers and directors in both civil and regulatory litigation. He has conducted internal investigations for corporate clients and for independent board committees. Paul acts for lawyers and other professionals in errors and omissions claims. He also regularly advises and represents clients in employment law claims. Paul is bilingual and conducts trials and appeals in both French and English.
Paul has served as President of the Association des juristes d’expression française de l’Ontario (AJEFO), is a past director of the Advocates' Society and is a former Trustee of the Law Foundation of Ontario. In 2012, he co-chaired a Bench and Bar Committee appointed by the Attorney General of Ontario to report on Access to Justice in French before the Ontario Courts. He regularly speaks and writes in his areas of practice. He is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, of the International Academy of Trial Lawyers and of Litigation Counsel of America. Paul is a member of the Commercial Bar Association, ComBAR (U.K.). In 2015, he received the Lincoln Alexander Award from the Law Society of Upper Canada. In 2018, the AJEFO awarded him its Ordre du Mérite.
