Annik is the Group Head of McMillan’s National Infrastructure and Construction Group, with a practice dedicated to the construction, infrastructure and development sectors. She provides strategic advice on project delivery, contractual risk allocation and management, municipal land use planning and approvals, project administration, claims management, environmental law, and dispute resolution.
Before becoming a lawyer, Annik practiced as an engineer, a foundation that informs her practical and technically grounded approach. She advises a broad range of industry stakeholders—including owners, developers, municipalities, contractors, engineers and architects—on projects across Ontario. Her experience spans condominium developments, university and hospital facilities, entertainment complexes, industrial buildings, and major renewable energy installations. In 2022 alone, she advised on projects collectively valued at more than $1.5 billion.
Well regarded for her work on complex construction and development agreements, Annik assists clients with both custom-drafted and standard form contracts, including CCDC, CCA, OAA and ACEC agreements. She regularly handles integrated project delivery (IPD) agreements, tie-back and crane swing agreements, master supply and O&M agreements, site plan agreements, and community benefit agreements. Annik also represents clients in dispute resolution, taking a results-oriented, creative and cost-effective approach in mediations and arbitrations, as well as in Building Code, by-law and regulatory matters before the Provincial Offences Court.
Deeply knowledgeable in front-end development approvals, Annik supports clients in obtaining rezonings, official plan amendments, severances, minor variances, and heritage or conservation authority approvals. She makes submissions to municipal councils and committees of adjustment, and appears before the Ontario Land Tribunal, the Environmental Review Tribunal and the Toronto Local Appeal Body.
A frequent speaker and writer, Annik has served on the Ontario Bar Association’s Construction Law Executive since 2021 and was elected Vice Chair in 2024. She previously served on the OBA Municipal Law Executive from 2016 to 2020.
