Lindsay Lorimer is a partner in McMillan’s Litigation and Dispute Resolution Group and is widely regarded as a “fierce advocate both in trial and at mediation.” Her practice is focused on product liability defence, regulatory compliance, class actions, and insurance litigation.
Lindsay has extensive experience defending class actions and individual and commercial product liability claims involving a broad range of products, including fire and security systems, consumer goods, food products, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, recreational products, industrial machinery, construction materials, motor vehicles, and juvenile products. She frequently handles matters involving complex scientific, technical, and medical evidence and serves as national coordinating counsel to several multinational manufacturers, helping them manage litigation and regulatory risk across Canada.
In addition to her litigation work, Lindsay is a trusted advisor on regulatory and compliance issues, particularly in matters involving Health Canada, the Electrical Safety Authority and Technical Safety Standards Assocation. She routinely advises on risk mitigation, product recalls (domestic and international), marketing approvals, and regulatory obligations under Canada’s medical device and consumer product safety regimes. She also supports clients in navigating high-stakes contractual disputes and compliance matters to safeguard their business operations and reputations.
Lindsay appears before all levels of court in Ontario and has represented clients before the Financial Services Commission of Ontario and in coroners’ inquests. She holds leadership positions in key defence organizations, currently serving as Vice Chair of DRI’s Product Liability Committee. She is also an active member of the International Association of Defense Counsel (IADC) and the International Consumer Product Health and Safety Organization (ICPHSO).
