Michelle T. Maniago is a Vancouver‑based partner at Borden Ladner Gervais LLP and a nationally recognized dispute resolution lawyer. Michelle serves as the regional general manager for the Disputes - Commercial and Construction Group in Vancouver and co‑chairs BLG’s national disputes training program.
Her practice focuses on complex commercial litigation, class actions, appeals and arbitration, and she is frequently engaged in high‑stakes and precedent‑setting disputes. Michelle regularly defends national and global brands in provincial, national and multi‑jurisdictional class actions, with particular experience in consumer protection, privacy and competition matters. She advises clients across a wide range of industries and legal issues and has experience at all stages of litigation, from early resolution through to multi‑week trials and high‑stakes appeals. Michelle works closely with in‑house teams to deliver practical, cost‑effective dispute resolution strategies.
Michelle’s practice includes specialized experience in competition law, consumer protection law, financial services and investment management, corporate governance and plans of arrangement, privacy and data protection, and international evidence collection. She has appeared as counsel before courts across Canada at both the trial and appellate levels, before regulatory bodies, and in domestic and international arbitration proceedings. Michelle is a leader in technology‑assisted and virtual hearings and was among the first counsel in British Columbia to conduct an electronic trial.
Michelle is a member and former executive leader, Class Action Practice Group of The Advocates' Society. She is a former director and chair at the ADR Institute of Canada (ADRIC).
She was called to the British Columbia Bar in 2008.
