Mr. Allan Chen is an experienced commercial dispute resolution lawyer with ample experience in advising multinational and local clients on their China-related disputes concerning, primarily, corporate governance and finance services.  Mr. Chen is particularly experienced in resolving complex corporate disputes in both domestic and cross-border context.  He has dealt with almost all types of corporate disputes, ranging from M&A transactions disputes, PE investments disputes, corporate governance disputes and JV disputes to winding-up.  Mr. Chen also regularly attends to various financial disputes and asset management disputes for various financial institutions, including securities companies, banks, trust companies, mutual funds, private fund managers etc.  He also has extensive experience in insolvency and restructuring.

  • Acting for a major Japanese construction material company in a complex, high-value and trans-jurisdictional dispute arising from the financial manipulation conducted by the founders of a domestic sanitary ware company indirectly acquired by Client, which involved litigation, arbitration and bankruptcy proceedings in mainland China, Hong Kong, German and Luxembourg.
  • Representing a large-scale domestic PE fund in a series of disputes with its JV partner arising from an RMB10 billion investment involving companies incorporated in mainland China, Hong Kong and Japan.
  • Acting for a private software company listed in Hong Kong in its decade-long joint venture dispute with a well-known Hong Kong company.
  • Representing a policy bank to recover a project loan extended to a private company’s power generation project in Europe, which involved litigation and bankruptcy proceedings in Italy, Luxembourg, Hong Kong and mainland China.
  • Representing a leading Hong Kong real estate developer to file parallel HKIAC and CIETAC arbitrations against a well-known domestic real estate developer and the target company arising from share transfer dispute.
