Arden is a seasoned and creative litigator, with extensive experience in complex cases from a range of disciplines. He has appeared as lead counsel before all levels of court in British Columbia, Ontario, and Alberta, as well as at the Federal Court and before various administrative tribunals.


Arden’s commercial litigation practice is bolstered by his strong financial and business acumen. He has litigated a wide range of business disputes, and his deep understanding of corporate finance allows him to quickly understand his clients’ business realities. Before law school, Arden began his professional career as an investment banker in New York.


Arden also maintains an active public law practice. He has acted for and against government entities, represented clients before a number of administrative tribunals, and regularly acts for applicants and interveners in cases concerning the Charter of Rights and Freedoms.


As an active participant in the legal profession, Arden has presented on a range of issues at law schools and continuing legal education seminars. His commentary and arguments have appeared in a variety of legal and mainstream publications.


Arden is well regarded by clients and peers. He is listed in the Lexpert 2022 special edition for litigation and has been recognized as a “leading lawyer to watch” for commercial litigation. He is also recognized as a “Future Star” by Benchmark Litigation Canada, and was listed in the same publication’s 40 & Under List in 2021 and 2022, which recognizes the country’s top emerging litigation talent.


Before founding Beddoes Litigation, Arden practiced for eight years at leading commercial and public law litigation firms in Toronto and Vancouver, learning from some of Canada’s most prominent litigators.


He clerked at the Ontario Superior Court of Justice in Toronto, where he worked extensively on cases on the Commercial List. He was called to the Ontario bar in 2012, and the British Columbia bar in 2015. He holds an honours degree in economics and political science from Brown University, where he was awarded Academic All-Ivy honours in 2005. He received his law degree from the University of Toronto, graduating in 2011.
