Brendan Monahan is a partner at Babin Bessner Spry LLP. His practice focuses on complex commercial disputes, including in the areas of securities litigation, contractual disputes, shareholder and oppression litigation, directors and officers liability, bankruptcy and insolvency matters, competition law, and class action proceedings.
Brendan regularly appears before all levels of court in Ontario, including the Court of Appeal for Ontario and the Commercial List of the Superior Court of Justice. He has also appeared before the Federal Court of Appeal, the Alberta Court of Appeal, in private arbitrations, and before the Ontario Capital Markets Tribunal and the British Columbia Securities Commission.
Prior to joining Babin Bessner Spry, Brendan practiced at a prominent securities litigation boutique, where he acted for clients in a wide range of civil, commercial and quasi-criminal matters, including Canadian provincial and cross-border securities regulatory investigations and prosecutions.
Brendan graduated from the combined J.D./M.B.A. program at Osgoode Hall Law School and the Schulich School of Business. He obtained his B.A. (Hons.) from Queen’s University, where he studied political science and film.
Brendan is a member of The Advocates' Society, the Canadian Bar Association, the Ontario Bar Association, and the Toronto Lawyers’ Association.
