Cara Cameron is a highly skilled litigator and negotiator trusted by clients with their most challenging commercial disputes, specifically in matters concerning contractual and shareholders’ rights, as well as white-collar investigations and defence, commercial fraud, asset tracing and recovery proceedings. Cara has substantial experience in managing large and complex multijurisdictional cases, where success depends on the effective coordination of multi-professional teams.


With more than twenty years of trial and appellate practice, she has achieved many successes in court, including in lengthy trials and urgent proceedings, such as injunctions, civil seizures, Anton Piller (civil search) orders, and asset freezes. She has appeared before all levels of courts, up to the Supreme Court of Canada. She also excels in out-of-court dispute resolution and provides strategic advice on risk mitigation strategies.

Representative cases include:

  • Acted for InvestBank PSC in relation to the international enforcement of judgments, asset tracing and recovery in several actions relating to debtors or assets in Canada, including asset-freezing remedies.
  • Acted for Envergent Technologies LLC, Honeywell Corporation and UOP LLP in their defence of a claim from a customer of more than $40M related to the sale and delivery of industrial equipment for the manufacturing of pyrolysis oil.
  • Acted for Cinar Corporation in an appeal before the Supreme Court of Canada in connection with alleged copyright infringement arising from the production of a children’s television show. Successfully argued for substantial reductions in, and the absence of joint and several liability for certain aspects of, the damages awarded by the Superior Court pursuant to the Copyright Act.  
  • Acted successfully for Phi Centre Inc., and others as the victims of misappropriation of substantial funds (in excess of $22M) by the Defendant, a former employee, and related parties.
  • Acted for Triumph Aerostructures, LLC, in connection with its dispute with Bombardier Inc. regarding the wing designed and manufactured by Triumph for Bombardier’s Global 7000 business aircraft, including a $455M claim filed by Triumph before the Québec Superior Court. The dispute was ultimately resolved
  • to both parties’ satisfaction. 
  • Acted on behalf of Cinar Corporation in significant litigation in Canada and elsewhere involving the recovery of in excess of $100M in relation to certain unauthorized transactions effected by past directors and officers of the corporation. This litigation also involved multi-jurisdictional safeguard, asset tracing, enforcement
  • and liquidation proceedings.
