Intellectual property
Greg Lantier is a trial lawyer and appellate advocate who focuses on disputes involving intellectual property, including utility patent, design patent, copyright, and trade secret infringement as well as IP ownership and licensing lawsuits. Mr. Lantier also advises clients regarding intellectual property strategy and licensing and assists clients in connection with legislative and executive actions affecting intellectual property interests.
Mr. Lantier has served as lead counsel for clients from a broad range of industries in matters before the US Supreme Court, US Circuit Courts of Appeal, US district courts, state courts, the US Court of Federal Claims, the US International Trade Commission, and in arbitration. His post-grant proceedings practice before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board is nationally recognized. Additionally, Mr. Lantier has experience working with foreign counsel at the trial and appellate stages of intellectual property-related litigation occurring outside the United States.
Mr. Lantier has successfully litigated the largest “bet-the-company” matters, helping to lead teams of dozens of attorneys to trial. He also has had substantial success handling smaller matters with streamlined case teams to efficiently obtain results. Mr. Lantier has served clients in the computer software, medical device, financial services, telecommunications, defense, semiconductor, pharmaceutical, biotechnology and other industries.
Mr. Lantier chairs the firm’s Western District of Texas Working Group and co-chairs its Post-Grant Proceedings Working Group. He is also a member of the firm’s FinTech interdisciplinary group.
Mr. Lantier has served as an adjunct professor at American University, Washington College of Law, where he has taught patent litigation.
He is admitted to practice before the US Court of Federal Claims and the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, Fourth Circuit and Ninth Circuit, and the US District Courts for the Eastern District of Texas, the Eastern District of Virginia, the Northern District of New York, the Southern District of New York and the District of Columbia.
Mr. Lantier is a member of the American Bar Association, the Virginia State Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association and the Federal Circuit Bar Association.
