S. Jamal Faleel’s national practice includes representing Fortune 500 companies in high-stakes litigation, with a focus on class actions, products liability and complex commercial litigation.
Mr. Faleel recently won the dismissal of a national consumer putative class action on a motion to dismiss and obtained a nuisance-value settlement and sworn declaration from the plaintiff admitting that it could not establish product identification, causation, and suffered no damages in a national consumer putative class action. As lead counsel for a Fortune 500 medical device manufacturer, he successfully defended a shareholder derivative action related to a multi-billion dollar merger. The plaintiffs voluntarily dismissed the action after the court denied their motion for a preliminary injunction.
Mr. Faleel serves as national counsel for an international private label manufacturer in its high-profile defense of putative nationwide class actions pending in multiple jurisdictions. He also serves as class counsel for a Fortune 500 window manufacturer in its defense of a putative nationwide class action. He is lead national counsel and trial counsel for a Fortune 100 corporation in its defense of product liability litigation across the United States. He also serves as co-lead counsel in advising a Fortune 500 manufacturer with its data security and cybersecurity defense.
Mr. Faleel is on the advisory board of the Minnesota Asian Pacific American Bar Association and member of the Minnesota Association of Black Lawyers. He was previously appointed by the Chief Judge of the District of Minnesota to serve on the Federal Practice Committee. He was also elected and served as Chair of the Minnesota State Bar Association New Lawyers Section, and served as a Member of the Minnesota State Bar Governing Council and the Legislative Committee.
Prior to entering private practice, Mr. Faleel served as a law clerk to the Honorable James M. Rosenbaum (Ret.), then Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the District of Minnesota.
