Since leaving a 20-year trailblazing prosecutorial career in 2007, Michele, a former member of the firm’s Management Committee, has been one of the most sought-after advisers to high-profile clients facing serious white collar exposure and other reputation-threatening challenges—a status reflected in her recognition by Chambers as “Senior Statesperson.” Michele’s engagements include many of the most closely followed and industry-defining litigations and investigations, and we believe she well deserves this recognition.
In recent years, Michele co-led the representation of 21st Century Fox in investigations concerning Roger Ailes, Bill O’Reilly and other related matters; and Bank of New York Mellon in regulatory matters and litigation arising out of the bank’s foreign exchange standing instruction orders.
Michele previously served as the second in command at the N.Y. State Attorney General’s Office and as the chief of the Public Corruption Unit in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York.
For her exceptional white collar work, Michele has received repeated recognitions from numerous industry publications, including being named a “White Collar, Regulatory & Compliance Trailblazer” by The National Law Journal in 2018. She is widely respected and admired across the profession for her professional achievements and public service. In 2014, she was selected by the Office of Appellate Defender to headline its annual Mock Supreme Court argument (along with Andrew Levander of Dechert). She was also awarded the 2014 Civic Leadership Award by Citizens Union for her contribution to New York City’s civic life through her government service and private practice.
