Stéphane Eljarrat, senior partner at the firm, is head of the white-collar crime team and is based out of the Montréal and Toronto offices.


Known for his composure and pragmatic approach, Stéphane represents Canadian and foreign businesses and institutions in a wide range of internal and external investigations and proceedings as well as criminal proceedings relating to fraud, corruption, insider trading, economic sanctions, money laundering, tax evasion and anticompetitive business conduct. He sits on the Anti-Corruption Committee of the International Bar Association as the North American regional representative.


Stéphane also acts in auditor general investigations, parliamentary investigations and special investigations, such as those conducted by the Office of the Canadian Ombudsperson for Responsible Enterprise, Elections Canada and Transport Canada, as well as in national security investigations.


He advises domestic and foreign corporations and their boards of directors on internal investigations relating to ethics and compliance, crisis management and corporate governance issues.


Prior to moving his career to private practice, Stéphane worked for Justice Canada's Royal Canadian Mounted Police Legal Services Unit, for the National Tax Litigation Section and as a federal prosecutor. He also worked for the Quebec government, notably for the Ministry of Public Safety as well as the Legislation and Investigations Branch of the Ministère du Revenu du Québec.
