Julien Archambault practises civil and commercial litigation, with a focus on construction law and insolvency and restructuring. He is frequently called upon to act in complex disputes at the intersection of these fields.

He advises and represents developers, contractors, and other industry stakeholders, bringing a strong understanding of both the legal and technical dimensions of construction disputes. Known for his strategic approach, Julien is often involved early in project development to help manage risk and position matters for successful resolution. He works closely with technical experts in areas such as delay analysis, quantification, and project management, and is active in negotiations, mediations, arbitrations, and litigation.

In his insolvency practice, Julien represents trustees, secured and unsecured creditors, debtors, and other stakeholders in proceedings under the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act and the Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act, as well as in restructuring and workout matters.

He regularly publishes and speaks on construction law and insolvency, with a focus on emerging and complex issues affecting the industry.

  • Representation of Hydro‑Québec in a dispute valued at over $110 million against Groupe Aecom Ltd., the general contractor of the Eastmain power plant.

  • Representation of condominium syndicates in a major litigation (exceeding $30 million) concerning construction deficiencies and defects in a complex of over 450 luxury condominiums.

  • Representation of the buyers of a hotel complex acquired through the bankruptcy of the former owner and who were subsequently sued by a secured creditor alleging fraudulent bankruptcy.
