Steve Warnett is a Vancouver‑based partner at Borden Ladner Gervais LLP with a robust commercial disputes practice. He is widely recognized as leading counsel in corporate and securities disputes and regularly represents clients in matters involving corporations and their shareholders, including oppression proceedings, derivative actions, secondary market liability claims, proxy contests, plans of arrangement and corporate governance matters. Steve also has extensive experience advising clients in securities regulatory compliance and enforcement proceedings, including matters before the British Columbia Securities Commission. His practice includes the defence of professional negligence and breach of fiduciary duty claims, class actions, shareholder actions and other securities‑related civil proceedings.
In addition to his litigation practice, Steve provides practical and proactive advice to corporations and boards and has experience in domestic and international commercial arbitration and intellectual property litigation. He has appeared before all levels of court in British Columbia, as well as the Federal Court and Federal Court of Appeal.
