Ella Cheong (Hong Kong & Beijing) sold

IPH Limited, the parent company of Spruson & Ferguson, acquired Ella Cheong Hong Kong & Beijing for HK$162 million (around USD $20 million). Following the acquisition the firm rebranded as Spruson & Ferguson. The company said that founder and name partner Ella Cheong has left the firm and will no longer practise patent, design and trade mark prosecution in China, Hong Kong and Macau. All other staff, over 50 of them, remain at the firm. IPH Limited owns other IP firms operating in the Asia-Pacific region.

Zacco takes over Cegumark

Cegumark is a relatively small trade mark and patent prosecution firm based in Gothenburg, a major city in the west coast of Sweden. The firm is currently ranked by IP Stars, and we understand its name will cease to exist next year. Cegumark’s team has already joined Zacco. This acquisition sees Zacco expand its activities in the region and, generally, in Sweden. The firm has also continued to strengthen its new IT business, with Pierre Davidsson the latest expert to join a growing team of IT specialists.
