Guerrini moves to STCPARTNERS

IP Star Jean-Christophe Guerrini has joined the arbitration and litigation practice of law firm STCPARTNERS. Guerrini is particularly recognised by his peers in IP litigation and advisory work. He was previously a partner at DS Avocats and, before that, Casalonga Avocats.

Alistair Payne quits Matheson

Payne officially left the firm this month to run his own law firm called Acuatus. He led Matheson’s IP practice and was the only practitioner recognised by Managing Intellectual Property as an IP Star (2016).

Appointments at Jones Day in France and the USA

One of Véron & Associés’ Patent Stars Thomas Bouvet has joined Jones Day’s Paris office as partner in its IP practice. Bouvet brought along with him a team of three associates: Eddy Prothière, Isabelle Bertaux, and Laura Romestant. They will team up with IP Star Emmanuel Baud, who is renowned for his soft IP practice. Commentators say Jones Day can now boast of having a strong patent litigation team in France.


The firm also announced that it has promoted three patent practitioners to partner, effective from January 1, 2017, in the USA. They are Patricia Campbell, John Evans and Kenneth Luchesi. All three have a background in the field of life sciences. Silicon Valley-based Campbell primarily deals with patent prosecution work while Evans and Luchesi are patent litigators based in Cleveland.

The firm has moved to a more spacious office building in Abdi Ipekçi Avenue, Nisantasi. According to the firm, the area is “a perfect symbol of transformation of modern life in Istanbul”. Mike Nelson to head up HGF Basel and Connors in York

Nelson, who is currently based in the firm’s UK office in Leeds, will be moving to Basel, Switzerland, in January 2017. He is a patent attorney with expertise in the pharmaceutical industry. He joined the firm in 2013 and was appointed partner the following year. Prior to joining HGF, Nelson spent over a decade as an in-house practitioner at a global pharmaceutical company. The firm opened its Basel office in February 2016 with a view to “predominately work with the Swiss healthcare Industry”.


Earlier this month the firm appointed patent attorney Martin Connors as Patent Director in its York office. Prior to joining the firm Connors worked in-house as a patent manager at Smith & Nephew.
