Subhash Bhutoria has re-joined L&L Partners as an IP partner in its New Delhi office. Bhutoria advises on soft IP matters, with notable expertise in the arts sector.

 

QANTM IP acquires Sortify.tm

QANTM IP has acquired the trade mark tech company Sortify.tm for AU$11 million (around $8 million). The New Zealand-based company was founded in 2016 by Potter IP practitioners Claire Foggo, Alan Potter and Narly Kalupahana. Potter and Foggo left Potter IP in 2021 but Kalupahana is still with the firm. QANTM IP is an ASX-listed company which owns IP firms such as Davies Collison Cave and FPA Patent Attorneys.

 

Tiang & Partners hires head of IP

China IP law specialist Chiang Ling Li has joined Tiang & Partners as a partner in its Hong Kong SAR office. Li will lead the firm’s IP practice. Tiang & Partners is part of the PwC Legal network.

 

IPH acquires Applied Marks

ASX-listed IP services company IPH has acquired Applied Marks, an online trade mark registration platform. IPH’s press release said that “Applied Marks is the number 4 filer in the Australian trade mark market representing approximately 4.5-5.0 per cent of the market, with a focus on the retail market.”

Hanna Moore + Curley sold

Murgitroyd has acquired the leading Irish patent attorney firm Hanna Moore + Curley (HMC). The acquisition expands the firm’s IP market share in Ireland and offices in Europe.

 

Eversheds Sutherland hired three IP/IT lawyers

Eversheds Sutherland recruited technology and IP transactions lawyer Emmanuel Ronco as a partner in its IP/IT team in Paris. Ronco joined from Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton and brought along two associates, Edouard Burlet and Killian Lefèvre. The new team will work with TMT and domain name specialist Vincent Denoyelle, who was recently appointed to lead its international media practice.

 

Orrick expands IP/tech transactions practice

International law firm Orrick hired Julia Apostle as a partner in its IP licensing and technology practice in Paris. Apostle advises on transactions relating to digital technology and brands. She was previously with Bredin Prat. This year, the firm also welcomed Benedikt Migdal as a partner in its Düsseldorf office and lawyers such as Daniel Forester, Sarah Schaedler, Colleen McDuffie, David Schulman, and Faraaz Samadi in the US. Migdal, who joined from Hengeler Mueller, specialises in IP transactions and patent and trade secrets.

 

ACAS-Law joins Dentons

Nigerian law firm Adepetun Caxton-Martins Agbor & Segun (ACAS-Law) has joined the global law firm Dentons. The law firm is now known as Dentons ACAS-Law. This is the latest merger announcement this year by Dentons as it continues to expand its presence across the world. It has also announced its combination with Paz Horowitz Abogados (Ecuador), Guevara & Gutierrez (Bolivia), East African Law Chambers (Tanzania) and Davis Brown (United States).
