Patent attorney Nick Mountford joined James & Wells as a partner in its Melbourne office. Mountford specialises in engineering and ICT patent work. He was previously a principal at Griffith Hack.

Mori Hamada & Matsumoto now has an IP practice in China

Japanese firm Mori Hamada & Matsumoto launched an IP practice in Beijing called Mori Hamada & Matsumoto Intellectual Property. The practice, which is led by Yoshifumi Onodera, will focus on trade mark work.

Former Anand & Anand litigator sets up a new firm

Bharath MS, ex-South India head at Anand & Anand, left the firm in March 2021 to establish his own IP boutique called KRIA Law.

 

Remfry & Sagar opens new office

Remfry & Sagar recently announced its new Mumbai office at Nariman Point. The firm is headquartered in Gurugram (New Delhi NCR) and has three other offices in India.

IP Star promoted to managing partner

LAW Partnership promoted Brian Law to managing partner in March 2021. Law co-founded the firm with Suaran Singh Sidhu as an IP/technology boutique but the firm has expanded into other areas of law.

Malaysian firm LAW Partnership hired patent specialist Pharvishaa Divya from Marks & Clerk to lead the patent practice in its new IP agency, LAWP Consultancy (Singapore).

Brandsmiths hired a new IP partner

Specialist consultant Joel Barry has joined Brandsmiths to strengthen its IP practice. Formerly head of IP at CMS, Barry brings a wealth of trade mark prosecution and litigation experience.

 

Kilburn & Strode promotes Rising Star  

Rising Star Harry Harden has been promoted to partner in the firm’s life sciences/chemistry practice while Juliet Hibbert was promoted to counsel in the technology group.

Rowena (Price) Tolley will join Kilburn & Strode as a partner on May 10. The former Gill Jennings & Every partner and trade mark star left the profession in 2018 for a career break.

Neeraj Thomas has been promoted to partner in CMS’ practice in Scotland. Thomas specialises in IP disputes and was previously ranked by MIP as a Rising Star (2018 – 2019).

 

Simmons & Simmons hired two patent attorneys

Simmons & Simmons expanded its life sciences patent practice by hiring two European patent attorneys as partners. London-based Lawrence King was previously with IP firm AA Thornton while Johan Renes, who is based in Amsterdam, joined from DLA Piper.

Appleyard Lees promoted solicitor Chris Hoole to partner. The soft IP practitioner has rounded experience in both contentious and non-contentious matters.

 

Howard Kennedy announces a new partner

Alex Watt joined Howard Kennedy as a partner in its London office. The former IP partner at Browne Jacobson will lead the firm's advertising and marketing practice. He specialises in brand protection and commercial IP work.

 

Kenaroğlu hired a new IP partner

Ali Bozoglu has joined Kenaroğlu as a partner, to lead the firm’s enforcement department. Bozoglu specialises in trade mark enforcement work. He was previously an associate at Gün + Partners.

 

EIP appoints a new chief executive in London

IP lawyer Magnus Hallin has joined EIP as its chief executive officer. Hallin was previously the CEO of the Scandinavian IP firm AWA.

 

Mathys & Squire acquires Coller IP

Mathys & Squire has acquired IP valuation company Coller IP to launch its own consulting business known as Mathys & Squire Consulting. The new business will offer a range of IP commercialisation services.

 

Potter Clarkson strengthens legal practice

Mark Kramer has joined Potter Clarkson as partner to lead its litigation and transactions practice in London. Kramer specialises in IP disputes and commercialisation work. He was previously a legal director at Shoosmiths.
