McDermott Will & Emery launches Austin office with eight new partners

McDermott Will & Emery hired eight partners from Baker Botts to launch its office in Austin. Baker Botts’ former IP practice leader Kevin Meek will head the office. The team includes Syed Fareed, Stephen Hash, Paula Heyman, Brian Oaks, Margaret Sampson, Nick Schuneman and Brett Thompsen.

Accura hires new partner

Accura hired attorney Søren Chr Søborg Andersen as a partner in its IP & Life Sciences practice. Andersen, who was a senior associate at Bech-Bruun, specialises in pharmaceutical patent disputes.

Taylor Wessing strengthens in the Benelux

IP litigator Patricia Cappuyns joined Taylor Wessing as a partner in its IP practice in Belgium. Cappuyns came from Fox IP, a firm she established in 2020. The firm also welcomed back patent litigator Charlotte Garnitsch in the Netherlands earlier this year. This development follows the departure of Judith Krens to Pinsent Masons in the Netherlands.

Eversheds Sutherland appoints new co-head of global IP

Eversheds Sutherland appointed IP/ICT partner Emmanuel Ronco as the global co-head of IP. Ronco is based in the firm’s Paris office.

Klaas Bisschop becomes a judge

Paul Hastings hires youngest High Court judge

Jason Raeburn joined Paul Hastings’ London office as a partner and leader of its IP practice. Raeburn specialises in trade secrets and copyright disputes. He also sits as a deputy master in the English High Court, becoming the youngest judge in the Chancery Division.
