Imagination Technologies announced last week that it has signed a new multi-year IP licensing deal with Apple. The UK-headquartered processor chip company said in its press release: "[The new deal] replaced the multi-year, multi-use license agreement with Apple, first announced on February 6, 2014, with a new multi-year license agreement under which Apple has access to a wider range of Imagination’s intellectual property in exchange for license fees."

This looks like positive news considering that both companies were locked in a bitter legal dispute a few years ago after Apple announced that it will stop using Imagination Technologies' products, a move which adversely affected the company and led to its acquisition in 2017 by the private equity fund Canyon Bridge.

Managing IP understands that IP star Vanessa Marsland of Clifford Chance advised Imagination Technologies on this deal, assisting its in-house lawyers Alex Jones and Paul Leaves. Apple has not yet made any official announcement about this deal.
