We have started publishing and announcing the results of our research for the 2020 edition of IP STARS and Managing IP Awards.

Managing IP's research covers more than 70 jurisdictions and several practice areas; this is the main reason why we stagger the publication of the results of the research and related content.

It is important to note the content we've confirmed and published, and what to expect next and when.

What we published in March

We've revealed the winners of the Managing IP EMEA and Americas awards (see here) and published the IP STARS national trade mark firm rankings (read more here).

What’s coming up next

We have made a slight change to our publishing timetable for 2020. In April, we'll publish and announce the 2020 IP Stars lists together with the general IP rankings for six US states and new jurisdictions such as Bolivia and Paraguay. Below is our revised timetable for 2020.*

April: Trade mark firm rankings for US states, general IP rankings and IP Stars lists (excluding Rising Stars, Corporate Stars and Top 250 Women in IP)
May: Copyright firm rankings and Top 250 Women in IP (Firm editorial commentary, Trade Mark Handbook and US Handbook also available this month)
June: Patent firm rankings, Corporate Stars and more firm editorial commentary
July: Patent Handbook available
September: Launch of the 2021 edition research
November: Rising Stars list 2020
December: IP transactions firm rankings 2020

*The above timetable is subject to change, and we will publish an announcement if we publish any content or if there is any change.

Please note that we are still conducting independent research. Although our research is more or less done all year round, the research for the 2020 edition will officially end in June. Any relevant research information not used for the 2020 edition will be considered for the 2021 edition.

Follow our announcements

We will publish an announcement on our news page after we have confirmed and published any 2020 edition content on our website. Rankings that are not marked as 2020 and our independent commentary under the 'Review' tab are from the 2019 edition of IP STARS.

We will change the year on the relevant individual ranking tags (i.e. the rating) once we have completed our work and updates in the backend of our website.

Our marketing/business development team will contact all the ranked firms and individuals in due course or before our official announcements.

Sign up to receive our monthly newsletter (here) or keep an eye on our news page and social media channels (Twitter and LinkedIn) for updates.

Launch of the 2021 edition research

The research for the 2021 edition of IP STARS and Managing IP Awards will officially commence on September 1 2020 (the research forms and guidelines will be published in August here). The official submission deadline is October 31.

We will contact firms and individuals (especially those that have previously participated in our research) in July or August 2020. If you would like to participate in the research or receive updates, please register your interest here.
