Specifically, the complaint asserts that a 2022 Bloomberg article, along with data disclosed under the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act, show that Wells Fargo rejects a disproportionate number of minority homeowners’ mortgage applications. The matter is ongoing.

Qiaojing Ella Zheng of Sanford Heisler Sharp serves as managing partner of the firm’s Palo Alto and San Francisco offices. Zheng is also chair of the firm’s Asian American Litigation and Finance Practice Group. She was lead counsel to a class of over 1,400 delivery drivers in an action before the California Superior Court against Weee!, North America’s largest supplier of Asian and Hispanic grocery products. The complaint alleged that Weee! has engaged in numerous violations of the California Labor Code, including making unlawful deductions from drivers’ tips, failing to provide drivers with adequate meal periods and to pay for work performed during unpaid meal breaks, misclassifying hundreds of drivers as independent contractors, and ignoring numerous laws and regulations designed to protect employees’ health and safety in the workplace. The parties reached a settlement in 2024.
