Seven standard essential patents in the video coding/decoding area owned by Mitsubishi were challenged by the petitioner in 2021 and all successfully held valid. Due to the importance of these patents, the petitioner filed a second round of invalidation requests. The firm represented the patentee, Mitsubishi, and had all seven patents maintained valid again.
In another significant IP matter, the firm represented Apple in a patent invalidation proceeding, navigating through the invalidation procedure and two instances of administrative litigation. Through strategic arguments, the firm successfully defended the validity of the patent in the Supreme People's Court. The case hinged on the inventive step of the patent, with alleged disclosures in prior art. By emphasising the innovative core and the interdependence of key technical features, the attorneys persuaded the judge to consider them as a whole. The Supreme Court ultimately adopted the firm's opinions, confirming the patent's inventive step.
The firm’s recent client roster includes Beijing Dajia Internet Information Technology, Blue Sky Innovation Group, Canon and HC SemiTek.
