Dispute resolution

Gen Law Firm generated immediate buzz upon its formation a few years ago when seasoned IP lawyer Jing He left AnJie Law Firm along with his team and set up this new firm. With offices in Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen, the firm’s IP team is lauded for its profound knowledge in complex IP litigation and transactional matters. It often litigates matters in the semiconductor, wireless, biopharmaceutical sectors, as well as difficult bad faith trademarks and cross-border trade secret issues.

Beijing-based managing partner Jing He has more than 20 years' experience in handling IP litigation, antitrust, policy advocacy and compliance matters. Another partner based in the firm’s office in Beijing is Kefeng (Steve) Zhao, whose practice covers disputes involving trademark, copyright, unfair competition and data protection, IP-related commercial arbitration and litigation, compliance investigation and governmental relation affairs. Jinwen (Kevin) Han and Feng (Jerry) Xia are other key figures of the firm.

The firm provided assistance to Bobst, a prominent global supplier of substrate processing and converting equipment, in an IP lawsuit. The case involved a patent administrative enforcement action against a Chinese competitor named DGM, who had unlawfully copied Bobst's patented design of Speedwave. Notably, this case stands out as one of the rare instances where foreign patent owners have successfully pursued administrative enforcement of their patent rights in China, subsequently leading to civil action and an administrative lawsuit.

Happy Elements, Panpan Door Company, Sichuan Emeishan Zhuyeqing Tea Company and Sina Weibo are some of the firm’s key IP clients.
