Dispute resolution

Global Law Office’s dispute resolution team comprises 50 partners with nearly 100 associates with solid skills and rich experience in a broad range of practices including antitrust, finance, compliance, insolvency, construction and intellectual property. It is also well-respected in the field of international arbitration, able to instruct in large-scale matters before the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission, Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre, London Court of International Arbitration and the International Chamber of Commerce.

Xing Xiusong and Gao Yifeng are well regarded for their international arbitration capability. Gao is also active in construction and product liability disputes. Other lawyers to note include Jingye Jiang, Zhao Li and Jiuguang Zhao.

In commercial and transactions, the firm is acting on behalf of China National Light Industrial Products Import & Export Group in litigation involving disputes over sales contracts, storage contracts and port cargo custody contracts. The series of cases are trialled in various levels of courts in many regions, including intermediate courts, high courts, and supreme courts.

On the construction front, the firm is currently representing Beijing Maglev Transportation Development in the construction of the S1 Line, a significant project in Beijing. The firm has participated in drafting and reviewing documents, offering legal opinions, and resolving potential disputes associated with the project. The transaction involved in this project is of substantial magnitude. However, due to changes in government planning, the actual construction period has exceeded the initially planned duration, leading to disputes involving significant amounts of money. As an infrastructure project, the S1 Line bears great importance for the travel of Beijing citizens and has a significant societal impact. Furthermore, the technical specifications within the industry for this project are highly complex.

The rest of the clients the firm advised in the past 12 months remains confidential.

In 2023, the firm welcomed 10 new partners joining the team, including Hong Jiang and Yiduo Gong who joined from TianTong Law Firm, Aohan Wang and Lijun Huang who joined from King & Wood Mallesons, and Yong Jia and Ping Yao from Zhong Lun Law Firm. Other recent lateral hires are Yongheng (Wendy) Wu, Yi (Lucy) Luo, Zhen Huang and Sufang Liao. In the same year, the firm lost partners Zhiqiang (Jack) Law and Jian Dong who departed to Hui Zhong Law Firm and Commerce & Finance Law Offices, respectively.
