Dispute resolution

Luthra and Luthra Law Offices retains one of the country’s largest disputes teams, with 24 dedicated litigation and arbitration-focused partners and 120 counsels. The group was bolstered with the arrival of seven Atlas Law partners last summer, including current firm managing partner Harry Chawla and acclaimed litigator Ritu Bhalla. The arbitration practice is active in handling and representing Public Sector Undertakings in complex and high-stakes commercial arbitrations and disputes arising out of EPC contracts. The firm works with clients in both a preventative and responsive role in anti-corruption and white-collar defence work.

The key contacts for disputes are Chawla, Bhalla, and insolvency expert Venancio D’Costa, competition specialist Gurdev Bhatia, arbitration partner Nakul Sachdeva and litigation partner Sanjeev Kumar.

The firm defended the Committee of Creditors of Reliance Capital in the company’s R&I before the Supreme Court of India. The firm also represented the Automotive Tyre Manufacturers Association before the NCLAT in one of the most contentious matters in the competition law space in India. Kroll Group has enlisted the firm to fight against a civil suit for recovery of monies based on torts, alleged to have caused the destruction of a large diamond business of the claimant.
