Eponymous disputes boutique Shobna Chandran was launched in 2023 by the former Tan Rajah & Cheah counsel and Dentons Rodyk & Davidson partner. It has a team of advocates specialising in appellate advocacy, instructed trial briefs and international arbitration matters. In addition to Singapore court work, the lawyers are adept at cross-border work and arbitration cases with a focus on South Asia and Southeast Asia.
In a recent highlight, with elements spanning multiple borders, Chandran successfully fought and won heavily contested court proceedings to wind up AAG for a debt of $250 million under the GMRA form of contract. She has also been instructed by Deutsche Bank to defend against a claim by 13 plaintiffs that an offering circular was issued with the intention that the statements contained would be acted upon by the plaintiffs, thereby inducing them to subscribe for and purchase 13 senior fixed rate notes, which resulted in their loss and damage.
