Dispute resolution

Disputes boutique Shobna Chandran was launched in 2023 by the former Tan Rajah & Cheah and Dentons Rodyk & Davidson partner, Shobna Chandran. It has a team of advocates specialising in appellate advocacy, instructed trial briefs and international arbitration matters. In addition to Singapore court work, the lawyers are adept at cross-border work and arbitration cases with a focus on South Asia and Southeast Asia.

In a recent highlight, with elements spanning multiple borders, Chandran successfully fought and won heavily contested court proceedings to wind up AAG for a debt of $250 million under the GMRA form of contract. She has also been instructed by Deutsche Bank to defend against a claim by 13 plaintiffs that an offering circular was issued with the intention that the statements contained would be acted upon by the plaintiffs, thereby inducing them to subscribe for and purchase 13 senior fixed rate notes, which resulted in their loss and damage.

Other highlight cases include an international arbitration where Chandran acted for an American technology provider against its local joint venture partner in relation to a distributorship agreement of edtech software.

Chandran is also acting for a senior employee against SAP on a claim for wrongful termination and breaches of various implied terms. There are novel and complex areas of employment law engaged in this case, which recently went for trial before the Singapore High Court in March 2025.

Chandran has a focus on matters concerning fraud, misrepresentation and deceit.  She is representing a high net worth individual against a global bank for a claim of deceit and mispresentation for multi-million losses.  She has also been instructed by an investment fund based out of Dubai against a regulated investment trading company for losses arising from fraudulent misrepresentation and forgery amounting to millions of dollars.
