Founded in May 2000, Tahota Law Firm set up its office in Beijing in 2003 and has become one of the fastest-growing law firms in the region. The firm has more than 40 partners and about 100 practising lawyers and consultants, some of which serve as arbitrators in various local and professional arbitration institutions and have rich experience in handling litigation and arbitration matters.

Key names in the commercial and transactions space include lead partner Shoutai Cheng, senior partners Jianming Gan, Jun Liu and Lv Zhang.

In commercial disputes, the firm represented a subsidiary of a leading chemicals enterprise in China under the direct supervision of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council (SASAC) in a series of contract disputes with an affiliated company of an energy company in Henan Province. This case is worth more than Rmb1 billion ($145 million). In another case, the firm represented a wholly-owned real estate development company under China South City Holdings in a dispute with a subsidiary of Metro Holdings Group concerning damages to the interests of the company and shareholders.

Xuping Xiang, Jiaqing Zhang and Lei Zhang have joined firm as senior partners in the past 12 months. The firm has also made 11 promotions during the same period.
