Fadi Amine specializes in a broad range of civil and commercial litigation. He is Lead of the Québec Litigation Group and co-Lead of the Class-Actions Defense Group and has extensive experience in class actions, consumer protection, competition law, advertising law, franchising and product distribution, manufacturing defects and product liability. He also regularly advises clients on the content and deployment of their marketing and advertising campaigns in light of the Quebec Consumer Protection Act, the Competi-tion Act and Ad Standards Canada. As part of his civil litigation and insurance practice, he focuses on professional liability, product liability, and civil liability, and often acts in commercial landlord/tenant disputes.
Fadi Amine also acts for developers or other private commercial parties in their disputes with or involving public bodies such as municipalities or the provincial government.
He has successfully contested unjust provincial government decrees and ministerial orders, as well as municipal regulations and decisions. Also, he appears on behalf of his clients before Québec administrative tribunals in expropriation proceedings as well as contestations of municipal evaluations and taxation.
As a regular part of his practice, Fadi Amine has developed particular expertise in urgent proceedings, including provisional and interlocutory injunctions, safeguard orders and judicial reviews of provincial or municipal decisions.
Fadi has acted as legal counsel before all levels of Quebec courts, including several times before the Quebec Court of Appeal and twice before the Supreme Court of Canada.
In addition, Fadi has written articles on topics related to franchising, product distribution and non-compete clauses, and is a regular lecturer on consumer protection law, false and misleading advertising and issues related to court procedure and expert evidence.
