Hannah Ross, a BLB&G partner and member of the firm’s Executive Committee, has more than 25 years of experience as a civil and criminal litigator. In addition to prosecuting securities fraud, corporate governance, and other forms of shareholder litigation on behalf of BLB&G’s institutional investor clients, Hannah dedicates a significant part of her practice to counseling the firm’s clients on potential claims in both U.S. and non-U.S. jurisdictions.

A former prosecutor in the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office and Assistant District Attorney in the Middlesex County (Massachusetts) District Attorney’s Office, Hannah is a fierce litigator who fights to maximize recoveries for investors injured by corporate fraud and malfeasance. She has been a leader and key member of trial teams that have recovered billions of dollars for BLB&G’s clients and other investors through shareholder litigation.

Beyond her litigation responsibilities, Hannah is a leader at BLB&G and in the public pension fund community at large. She serves as co-chair of the firm’s Forum for Institutional Investors and Women’s Forum. She recently concluded a three-year term on the Council of Institutional Investors’ Markets Advisory Council. She is an active member of the National Association of Public Pension Attorneys and has also served as an adjunct faculty member in the trial advocacy program at the Dickinson School of Law of the Pennsylvania State University.

  • Allianz Global Investors U.S. LLC (S.D.N.Y.)/(N.Y. Sup. Ct.): Hannah prosecuted the high-profile series of actions arising out of the implosion of the “Structured Alpha Funds,” a complex options-trading strategy marketed by Allianz Global Investors. BLB&G, led by Hannah, was appointed by the court to serve as liaison counsel in more than 20 actions related to Allianz's breach of fiduciary and contractual duties, ultimately recovering more than $2 billion for investors. BLB&G represented 35 separate institutional investors in these actions, including the Arkansas Teacher Retirement System, Employees’ Retirement System of the City of Milwaukee, San Diego City Employees’ Retirement System, and Chicago Laborers Pension & Welfare Funds, among others

  • In re Wells Fargo & Company Securities Litigation (S.D.N.Y.): Hannah represented co-lead plaintiffs Louisiana Sheriffs’ Pension & Relief Fund and Handelsbanken Fonder AB and recovered $1 billion for investors in a securities class action challenging Wells Fargo’s fraudulent banking practices and the deficient corporate oversight that allowed those practices to develop and endure. The recovery was reached after three years of hard-fought litigation and was achieved with the assistance of a respected mediator, former U.S. District Judge Layn Phillips. This was the top U.S. securities class action recovery of 2023 and is among the top 17 of all time.

  • In re EQT Corporation Securities Litigation (W.D. Pa.): Hannah represented the Government of Guam Retirement Fund and Cambridge Retirement System as co-lead plaintiffs and secured a $167.5 million recovery, pending final court approval, in the securities class action against EQT Corporation arising from EQT’s $6.7 billion acquisition of rival gas producer Rice Energy. The case alleged that EQT and certain of the company’s senior executives and directors falsely stated that EQT’s acquisition of Rice would yield billions of dollars in synergies based on purported operational benefits. The $167.5 million recovery was achieved after five years of hard-fought litigation and is the largest such recovery in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania.

  • Camelot Event Driven Fund v. Morgan Stanley & Co. LLC, et al. (N.Y. Sup. Ct.): Hannah represented the Louisiana Municipal Police Employees’ Retirement System in a securities class action against three underwriter defendants related to $3 billion of public offerings of Viacom stock in March 2021 and the concurrent implosion of family fund Archegos Capital Management. This action was recently resolved for $120 million, pending final court approval.
