John specializes in litigation, arbitration and mediation of construction disputes. He is certified as a Specialist in Construction Law by the Law Society of Ontario and is a Fellow of the Canadian College of Construction Lawyers.
 
Prior to co-founding Margie Strub Construction Law LLP, John was a partner and former managing partner for a mid-sized construction law firm in downtown Toronto.
 
Since his call to the Bar in 1995, John has practiced exclusively in construction and surety bond law, and his experience includes international construction disputes, construction claims, construction liens, trust claims and surety bond claims.  John has been involved in disputes related to residential, infrastructure, industrial and commercial projects, including hydroelectric projects, pipelines, mines, power plants, hospitals, waste and recycling treatment plants, roadworks, sewer and watermain projects. John represents parties at all levels of the construction pyramid.
 
John is a Fellow of the Canadian College of Construction Lawyers, the Chair of the College’s Website Committee and a former Governor of the College. John is recognized by L’Expert as one of 500 leading construction and infrastructure lawyers in Canada and is a repeatedly recommended lawyer in the area of construction law by L’Expert. John is also recognized by Best Lawyers. John also holds an Executive MBA from the Ivey Business School.
 
John is the author of several articles related to construction law, construction liens in Ontario, the co-author of the Simplified Guide to Modernization of the Construction Lien Act and the co-author of several articles on construction claims. John is also a frequent speaker at conferences on construction law issues and recently, John was a panelist at the Canadian Institute Urban Transit conference.
 
John and Joshua co-founded and taught, along with another colleague, the Construction Law course at Western Law in London Ontario.
