Sharonmoyee Goswami is a partner in Cravath’s Litigation Department. She focuses her practice on intellectual property, antitrust and other litigation involving complex technical and scientific issues. She has extensive experience representing companies and individuals in all stages of litigation, from pre complaint investigation through appeal, and routinely practices before the Federal Circuit and Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB).

Ms. Goswami secured numerous victories for Alarm.com in patent infringement litigation brought by Vivint concerning interactive security and home automation technology, eliminating over 100 claims with respect to five of Vivint’s patents in PTAB decisions and repeatedly knocking back Vivint’s attempts to reverse those rulings on appeal. Following eight years of litigation in multiple jurisdictions, Ms. Goswami helped secure a favorable resolution for Alarm.com to end all litigation between the parties. She continues to represent Alarm.com on appeal after winning a trial decision in November 2022 in patent infringement litigation brought by Causam Enterprises at the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) concerning four patents for demand management functionality used to manage electric operating reserves.

Ms. Goswami represents Abiomed before the district court and on appeal to the Federal Circuit in two patent infringement matters relating to guidance systems used in the company’s minimally invasive intravascular blood pumps. She also represents Abiomed as plaintiff in a trade secret and breach of contract action against Enmodes GmbH and its founder. She additionally represents Ingevity in its appeal to the Federal Circuit of a patent infringement case against BASF and BASF’s antitrust counterclaims.

Ms. Goswami received a B.S.E. in Chemical Engineering from Princeton University in 2009 and obtained certificates (minors) in Engineering Biology and Materials Science. At Princeton, she was awarded the inaugural leadership prize in Materials Science and Engineering. She received a J.D. magna cum laude from New York University School of Law in 2012, where she was a Florence Allen Scholar, a Senior Editor of the Journal of Intellectual Property & Entertainment Law and was elected to the Order of the Coif. At NYU, she was awarded the Walter J. Derenberg Prize in Copyright Law.

Ms. Goswami joined Cravath in 2012. She served as a law clerk to Hon. Timothy B. Dyk of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit in 2013. She rejoined Cravath in 2014 and was elected a partner in 2019. Ms. Goswami serves on the Firm’s Diversity Committee and is a partner liaison to the South Asian Affinity Group/Middle Eastern Affinity Group.
