Stephanie M. Rippee is a partner at Watkins & Eager in Jackson, Mississippi, and a member of the firm’s executive committee. Stephanie’s experience over the last 25 years has been divided between general commercial litigation and more specialized product liability litigation. She has represented various lenders ranging from banks to private financing companies in individual lawsuits and in class actions. She has also litigated complex real estate disputes, consumer fraud claims and contested bankruptcy matters. In product liability litigation, she has defended pharmaceutical and medical device companies on a local, regional and national basis. Stephanie has substantial experience developing expert witnesses for her product liability clients and taking apart the experts of her clients’ opponents, both in deposition and at trial.
Stephanie served in 2015 as a faculty member of the International Association of Defense Counsel’s 43rd Annual Trial Academy at Stanford Law School, teaching trial techniques to the next generation of litigators. She also made several presentations in 2014 and 2015 on the topic of data security and privacy. She is a fellow of both the American Bar Foundation and the Litigation Counsel of America, and is AV Preeminent® Rated by Martindale-Hubbell. Since 2011, Stephanie has been listed by Mid-South Super Lawyers as one of the Top 50 lawyers in Mississippi and one of the Top 50 Female Lawyers in the Mid-South. She is recognized in the fields of commercial litigation and product liability litigation in numerous other rankings and listings, including Chambers USA-America’s Leading Lawyers for Business, The Best Lawyers in America, Who’s Who Legal: Product Liability Defence, Guide to World’s Leading Women in Business Law and Guide to the World’s Leading Litigation and Product Liability Lawyers.
Professionally, Stephanie has been an active member of the International Association of Defense Counsel, holding various leadership positions on both the Business Litigation Committee and the Product Liability Committee since 2009. She has also worked on various committees of the Capital Area Bar Association, her local bar association. Outside of the legal world, Stephanie devotes significant time to involvement in her community. Over the past two decades, she has volunteered in various capacities for the Memory Impairment and Neurodegenerative Dementia (MIND) Center, Youth Villages, the Diabetes Foundation of Mississippi and the Mississippi Arthritis Foundation.
