Her expertise spans across various industries, including consumer products, pharmaceuticals, media, entertainment, and sports, where she serves as a litigator and trusted advisor to her clients.
Susan’s achievements as a trial lawyer are impressive, marked by her specialization in high-stakes matters and complex disputes. Throughout her career, Susan has set herself apart from her peers through her substantive versatility, strategic instincts, and record of winning challenging cases with precision. Susan strives to be a truth teller which allows her to build trust with judges and juries, a strategy that has helped her successfully try multiple high-profile cases to verdict in state and federal courts nationwide. Susan also has extensive experience in efficiently coordinating and managing large-scale actions, including handling complex cross-jurisdiction matters involving multiple parties, counsel, and case issues.
Among her esteemed clientele, Susan represents prominent names such as Gilead Sciences, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Sandoz and the National Football League, further solidifying her position as a formidable legal force in her field. Most recently, she served as lead trial counsel for Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in an employment litigation alleging wrongful termination. Susan also served as trial counsel for Gilead Sciences, where she helped secure a full defense verdict in a closely-watched $3.6 billion antitrust matter. Susan has worked on other highly-publicized product liability cases, obtaining significant victories for her clients through the years. She will serve as trial counsel in forthcoming Gilead products liability bellwether trials.
When she is not in the courtroom, Susan is active in the Los Angeles legal community. She serves on the Board of Trustees for the Mexican-American Bar Foundation and sits on the Associate Board for Education through Music, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing music education in inner-city schools. She also sits on the board of the West Los Angeles chapter of The American Red Cross.
Susan is deeply committed to fostering diversity within the legal profession. She is an active member in Proskauer’s Hispanic/Latino Lawyer Affinity Group and a former co-chair of the group. Susan is instrumental in shaping the Firm’s Heritage Month events, leading community service and pro bono initiatives, and serving as a mentor to others in the group. She additionally contributes to the Firm's LGBTQ Affinity Group, fostering informal mentoring relationships to support the professional development of LGBTQ lawyers and summer associates.
