Virginia L. Carron focuses her practice on patent and trademark litigation and counseling. She represents a diverse client base, including companies in the food and beverage, refining and chemicals, biofuels, forest and consumer products, polymers and fibers, pollution control, and luxury goods industries. Virginia also advises numerous international clients across a wide range of sectors.

Her litigation experience spans U.S. district court trials, proceedings before the U.S. International Trade Commission, and appeals to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Virginia counsels Fortune 500 companies on intellectual property licensing and transactional matters and serves as primary outside counsel for global IP strategy and enforcement for several multinational corporations. Her practice also includes inter partes review proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board.

Virginia has served as first chair in multiple trademark, trade dress, unfair competition, and false advertising cases, including litigation for premium cigar companies. She has led successful counterfeiting and trademark infringement actions resulting in the seizure and destruction of millions of dollars in counterfeit goods, with some cases leading to criminal convictions and incarceration of counterfeiters.

Committed to pro bono service, Virginia represents disabled military veterans in appeals before the U.S. Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims. Her contributions have been recognized for advancing access to justice for veterans. She previously served on the firm’s management committee and as managing partner of its Atlanta office.

Virginia is regularly recognized for her leadership and excellence in intellectual property law, including patent strategy, trademark enforcement, and litigation, both nationally and within Georgia.

  • Co-lead representing Nestle in patent litigation involving patents directed to methods for producing lightweight plastic containers.

  • On behalf of Nestle, served as co-lead and obtained a favorable construction leading to a stipulated judgment of non-infringement in long-running litigation over antiseptic packaging.

  • As first chair, representing defendant Molex, Inc. in patent litigation involving six patents for electric connectors.

  • As first chair, represented Fuente on appeal of an adverse TTAB decision related to a cigar trademark in front of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
