Litigation Star
Warren T. Burns is a distinguished trial lawyer whose work spans some of the nation’s most complex antitrust, class action, and commercial disputes. Since co-founding Burns Charest, he has led a team known for its work in high-stakes litigation, challenging powerful corporate interests across multiple industries.
Warren focuses his practice on antitrust litigation, consumer protection class actions, business torts, breach-of-contract disputes, intellectual property matters, and cases involving accounting malpractice. He has successfully litigated and tried cases involving price-fixing, monopolization, alleged cartel behavior, wrongful business conduct, and breaches of fiduciary duty.
Among his significant accomplishments, Warren served as lead counsel in the EpiPen antitrust and RICO class action, culminating in settlements totaling $609 million for class members who had allegedly paid inflated prices for a life-saving device. He also played a pivotal role in the first mortgage-backed securities case ever to reach trial, helping secure a $106 million judgment, and achieving key rulings that influenced related cases. Warren has held or continues to hold executive and co-lead roles in litigation involving airlines, automotive manufacturers, health-care products, and royalty disputes.
Warren’s fight extends beyond individual clients—he views access to the courts as fundamental to our democracy. He frequently speaks and writes about the civil justice system’s role in protecting rights against concentrated power, and he approaches each engagement with a deep commitment to strategic advocacy and principled client service.
Warren graduated summa cum laude from Tulane University Law School, where he was Editor-in-Chief of the Tulane Law Review and recipient of the John Minor Wisdom Award. After law school, he clerked for the Hon. Paul J. Kelly, Jr. on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit.
Warren is admitted to practice in Texas, New York, and the U.S. Virgin Islands, among other jurisdictions. His professional honors include listings in Best Lawyers in America, Texas Super Lawyers, Lawdragon’s Leading Plaintiff Consumer and Financial Lawyers, and election to the American Law Institute. He is active in the American Bar Association (serving on the steering committee for the International Litigation Committee), serves as a Fellow in multiple trial lawyer organizations, and sits on the Board of Advisory Editors for the Tulane Law Review.
